Every Corner of Santee, Plus Next Door in Lakeside

One van based in Santee, so a call from anywhere between the SR-125 and the SR-67 is a short drive. Here is what each part of town looks like from the driver's seat: the housing, the hardware, and the jobs we actually get there.

Zip codes: 92071 (all of Santee) and 92072 (Santee PO boxes). Lakeside is 92040. Typical arrival inside Santee is well under an hour and often much less; we give you a real ETA on the phone rather than a number on a website. Jump to a neighborhood:

Carlton Hills

North of the river along Carlton Hills Blvd and Mast Blvd, Carlton Hills is the Santee most people picture: single-story ranch homes from the late 1960s through the '80s, two-car garages facing the street, a boat or a work truck in a third of the driveways, Mast Park and the river trail at the bottom of the hill. The hardware is original more often than not. The jobs we get here are driveway jobs: a second key fob for a teenager's hand-me-down Civic, a spare for the truck that goes to Lakeside every morning, and the occasional garage-to-house door that finally wore out after forty years of daily use.

Carlton Oaks & Carlton Estates

Along Carlton Oaks Dr and Inwood Dr the lots get bigger and the golf course edges the San Diego River. Homes here run from 1970s ranches on quarter-acre lots to remodels that added a second story and a gate. Bigger lots mean more doors: side gates, pool gates, a detached workshop, a casita. When a house changes hands here we usually put the whole property on one key, including the gate padlocks, so the new owner is not carrying a ring the size of a fist. Carlton Estates, the older streets tucked behind the course, gets the same treatment.

Sky Ranch

Sky Ranch sits on the hill in the southeast corner of Santee, up Sky Ranch Rd: 2000s single-family homes and the NorthStar townhomes, with views west over the whole valley. The doors are newer and the door prep is standard, which makes it the easiest neighborhood in town for a keypad deadbolt install. The garage-to-house door is where most Sky Ranch families ask for it, since that is the door the kids come through after school. West-facing front doors up here take the full afternoon sun; we pick locks with backlit keypads for that reason.

Weston & the Mast Blvd tracts

Weston is the 415-home community across Mast Blvd from West Hills High, built out from 2018 with solar on every roof. Nearby, Castlerock and Walker Trails filled in more of the land between Mast Blvd and the river. These are the newest single-family homes in Santee, and they come with builder-grade deadbolts that have been through the whole construction crew and every model-home tour. The two jobs we get most in Weston: a move-in rekey the week of closing, and a smart lock on the front or garage door when the family decides the pre-wired smart-home package should include the lock too.

Summercrest

Summercrest is an established family neighborhood of 1980s tract homes on quiet loops off Magnolia Ave, a short walk from Santana High. Three cars in the driveway is the norm, and the third one belongs to a student. We do a lot of spare keys here, a fair number of rekeys when a house sells to the next family, and the classic Summercrest lockout: garage door down, house door locked, everyone at the Santana game with the keys.

Riverwalk, Riverview & the Town Center townhomes

North of Town Center Community Park and the Cameron Family YMCA, Riverwalk is a 218-unit townhome community on Riverwalk Dr, with Sportsplex USA at the end of the street. Riverview (about 150 townhomes at Lagoon Way), Prospect Fields and the Laurel Heights and Caribbean Way townhomes round out the newer attached housing in the middle of town. Townhomes mean one or two exterior doors, an HOA with rules about visible hardware, and a lot of first-time buyers. A keypad deadbolt in a finish that matches the HOA's approved list is the most common request; a rekey at move-in is a close second.

Town Center & Trolley Square

Santee's commercial heart: Santee Trolley Square at Mission Gorge Rd and Town Center Pkwy, the end of the Green Line, the shopping centers along Cuyamaca St, and apartments like Parc One next to the trolley station. We work both sides of the counter here. For the shops, offices and clinics it is storefront locks, closers, exit devices and lock changes when staff turn over. For everyone else it is the car lockout in the Trolley Square lot, usually right after a movie or a grocery run, and apartment lockouts when the leasing office has gone home.

Prospect Ave, Pepper Dr & Mission Gorge Rd

The south and west of Santee: older homes and duplexes along Prospect Ave and the streets down to the Pepper Dr border with El Cajon, condos along Mission Gorge Rd toward the San Diego city line, and several of the mobile-home and manufactured-home communities that are a real part of Santee's housing. The industrial blocks off Prospect Ave, Cuyamaca St and Olive Ln are where the contractor bays and roll-up doors live. Residential calls here lean toward house lockouts and worn-out original locks; manufactured homes use hardware that a standard tool does not fit, so tell us if that is you and we bring the right set.

Santee Lakes, the Drive-In & the trailheads

This is the section of the map with no houses and the most lockouts. Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, seven lakes along Fanita Pkwy and Carlton Oaks Dr with day-use lots and a campground, is where keys get dropped while unloading a kayak. The Santee Drive-In on Woodside Ave fills its lot every movie night and every swap-meet weekend. Big Rock Park, the Walker Preserve end of the river trail off Magnolia Ave, and the Kumeyaay Lake side of Mission Trails off Mission Gorge Rd send us hikers who locked the key in the trunk with the water. All of it is a car lockout, and all of it is a short drive for us. Text the lot name before your phone loses signal at the trailhead.

Fanita Ranch

Honest note, since it shows up on a lot of maps: Fanita Ranch is about 2,600 acres of open land north of Santee Lakes, and as of 2026 there are no homes on it. The 3,000-home project was struck down by a state appeals court in June 2026. If that ever changes, we will be there for the move-in rekeys. Until then, it is a place to hike, and the only calls we get from that direction are from the Santee Lakes lots below it.

Lakeside

East across SR-67, Lakeside is unincorporated county: bigger lots, horse properties, long gravel driveways off Woodside Ave and Wintergardens Blvd, and more pickups per household than anywhere else we go. The jobs follow the trucks. Our most common Lakeside call is a work truck with every key lost, cut and programmed in the driveway so it does not need a tow to a dealer. Gates, barns and shop buildings get keyed-alike padlocks. Lakeside is inside our regular area with a small trip add-on for the far side of Lindo Lake, which we state on the phone.

Just outside our area?

El Cajon, Lakeside proper, Tierrasanta and San Carlos are close enough that we often say yes, especially for a scheduled job like a rekey or a fob. Alpine, Ramona and the far side of El Cajon are further than we can promise a good ETA for a lockout. Call and ask. If we cannot get to you quickly, we will say so instead of leaving you waiting in a parking lot. Full contact details are on the contact page.
